What is Satellite Bootcamp?

Welcome to the Satellite Bootcamp program, where you will have the opportunity to learn, build, and take home a complete functional satellite. This eight-day journey will provide you with century-leading skills such as system programming, CAD, PCB, electronics, and soldering. But the Satellite Bootcamp is not just about building satellites – it is a process where you will have the chance to create and implement your own mission idea on the satellite you have built.
'It's a journey from imagination to reality – join us and see your ideas take off!'.

CAD stands for Computer Aided Design. CAD is used to design, develop and optimize products. While it is very versatile, CAD is extensively used in the design of tools and equipment required in the manufacturing process as well as in the construction domain. CAD enables design engineers to layout and to develop their work on a computer screen, print and save it for future editing.

PCB(Printed Circuit Board) design involves creating a layout for a printed circuit board (PCB) that specifies the placement of components and the routing of electrical connections between them. The design process typically involves using computer-aided design (CAD) software to create a detailed plan for the PCB, which is then used to produce the actual PCB using a manufacturing process such as photolithography.

Printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing is the process of producing PCBs, which are used to support and electrically connect electronic components using conductive tracks, pads, and other features etched from copper sheets laminated onto a non-conductive substrate. There are several steps involved in the PCB manufacturing process, including: Design, Photolithography, Etching, Drilling, Soldering.

3D Printing technology, also known as Additive Manufacturing (AM), refers to processes used to generate a 3D object in which layers of material are successively formed under a computer controlled program to create a physical object. The 3D file source is usually sliced into several layers, each layer generating a set of computer controlled instructions. Both 3D printing and additive manufacturing reflect that the technologies share the theme of sequential-layer material addition or joining throughout a 3D work.

Satellite system is made of multiple sub-system along with. During the process of satellite design we will create different sub-system. The sub-system will be assemble in a such way that it will result a complete 1U satellite at the end.

Satellite systems are used for a variety of purposes, including communication, navigation, and remote sensing. Satellite programming involves developing software for the systems that control and operate satellites, as well as for the ground stations that communicate with them. This can include writing code for satellite navigation and positioning, satellite communications protocols, and data processing and analysis. It can also involve working with hardware and electronics to interface with the satellite’s systems. Some of the key challenges in satellite programming include the need to work with constraints on power, weight, and size, as well as the challenges of communicating with and controlling a system that is often far away in space.

Satellite missions are inspired by different climates i.e. Global warming, GLOF, Climate Change, etc. we will discuss on what a Satellite mission should be to observe such climates and find the satellite’s purpose. A satellite’s purpose is decided by different criteria like feasibility, simplicity, creativity, execution plan and many more.
